I’m running a webinar on how to plot your sitcom. That’s on Wednesday 24th April at 6pm UK Time.

You might want to read yesterday’s blog first or you’ll be wondering why I’ve made a video about going to a health food store.

Watch the video above. And here are my notes:

  1. When you walk in, there’s that smell. What is it? Do people who work there not smell it? Does it bother anyone that they don’t know what it is? Or does everyone know what it is? Would it better for sales if they made the store smell of something else? Like baking bread. What happens when they try to make bread?

  2. Freezers with vegan ice-cream in them. What happens when the freezers don’t work? Do you end up having to eat up an awful lot of vegan ice cream? What are the side effects of eating too much vegan ice cream?

  3. When I walked in, I heard someone say. “That's a blend of 3 different forms of magnesium" So I asked about magnesium. We don’t get enough - they say it’s because of the depletion of our agriculture? (Seems unlikely to me but then I’m the loyal son of a farmer). What do we need magnesium for? You can rub it in as oil. Have it as bath flakes (huge bag £45?!). Or take it as a pill. Magnesium Citrate or something like that is quite popular? I have a leaflet. Must read.

  4. There was some very expensive honey. Is there a local producer who charges a fortune purely because they can?

  5. There were lots of teas. To sell them, do they have a tea station, always on the go? Boiling water plus customers plus no customer toilet. (And didn’t Waitrose have a problem with too many people claiming their free coffee?)

  6. There was a ‘help wanted’ vacancy sign. Who would apply to work there? And how would they feel about a new employee? How would that decision be made? Are they looking for a Capricorn? Can you discriminate against Aries and Pisces? Or Enneagram Type 2s? We don’t want a new employee (do we?!) but maybe the idea of getting one, and their inability to decide means they all volunteer to work a few more hours a week?

  7. Parking in the street is difficult and limited to 20 minutes. Do people dash in and out? The staff don’t want people to drive anyway. Offer discounts if you produce a bus ticket? How is that abused?

  8. People still pay by cash. Do some not want payments tracked. What happens when the credit card payment machine goes down?

  9. Is there a leaflet tucked in with the other’s that’s unauthorised? And some sort of propaganda/flat earth material?

  10. There were quite a few security cameras around. Who is spying on whom?

Leaflets to be read!

That’s all for today. Book in for the webinar on Wednesday 24th April at 6pm UK Time.
